David C. Terry launched his first exhibition as C24 Gallery’s new Artistic Director & Curator last night. Core Sample, a group show featuring the gallery’s core roster of artists, is the result of months of effort on the Curator’s behalf. Terry successfully integrated himself into the culture and community of C24 Gallery, forging relationships with currently represented artists in order to best understand C24’s past and present while building a strong foundation for the future.
Artist Christian Vincent flew from California to attend the opening, and David C. Terry was present to receive guests and discuss the artwork, artists, and upcoming plans for the gallery.
Core Sample is open at C24 Gallery through December 22, 2018.
Katja Loher’s widely lauded exhibition, What is the color of scent?" closed Saturday at C24 Gallery. A private celebration for friends, collaborators, and collectors was held at the gallery’s West 24th Street location in Chelsea during the final hours of the show.
The lower level of the gallery was transformed into a space for meditation and celebration of the five senses. Pillows, candles, rugs, and antique trays curated by Loher’s close collaborator for the show, Tansy Kaschak, filled the room with warmth and calm.
Tansy and Katja brought their guests on a candlelit meditative journey through the senses, a fitting end to an exhibition that promised to be an all encompassing sensory experience, and delivered.
A selection of Katja Loher’s works will be included in C24’s upcoming group show, “Core Sample”, opening November 8, 2018.

This Wednesday, C24 Gallery and the Parrish Contemporaries Circle held their first joint event, alongside Berry Campbell. The Contemporaries Circle Gallery Hop on W 24th was a success. Invited guests started their evening with artist Susan Vecsey at her exhibition at Berry Campbell and then congregated at C24 Gallery for a private showing of Katja Loher’s solo show What is the color of Scent?
Guests mingled with wine and tea as Loher and her collaborator for the exhibition, scent artist Tansy Kaschak, made their rounds – established collectors of Katja’s work, her collaborators, and the Parrish Contemporaries Circle were all in attendance. Loher and Kaschak offered insight into the thesis of the exhibition, as well as their creative process, during an artist talk that took attendees from one element of the exhibition to the next. Topics discussed included the necessity of love for all things; bees as communicators; and the spirituality of mandalas, which are heavily featured throughout What is the color of scent? thanks in large part to Loher’s recent artist residency in India.
Michelle Maigret, Director of C24 Gallery and new member of the Parrish Contemporaries Circle Committee, had the following to say: “Tonight’s event was a wonderful opportunity to introduce the Parrish members to a great diversity of artwork. The juxtaposition between Susan Vecsey’s and Katja Loher’s work speaks highly of the arts in Chelsea, and we’re so happy to share with the wider community.”
