C24 Gallery is hosting “Transformation,” German artist Mike Dargas’ first solo exhibition in the United States, on view till February 25, 2017.

Cologne-born Dargas (b.1983) has been deeply inspired by artists such as Dali, Caravaggio and H.R. Giger. In “Transformation,” Dargas explores the process of change – a fundamental and inevitable circumstance of life. Having gone through recent major changes in his own life, Dargas examines the moment of personal transformation: the struggle, the hope, and the fear. On view will be a new body of work, oil on canvas paintings produced in the artist’s signature style of realism. The exhibition presents oversized, hyper-realistic portraits of people each portrait conveying intimate, implied surreal atmospheres fusing the relationship between art, imagination and reality. The visually exciting paintings reflect the emotional and dramatic life of the painter and the subject.

The exhibition is on view at C24 Gallery, 560 West 24th Street, New York, NY 10001, United States.
