FACIAL PROFILING. | GROUP SHOW AT C24 GALLERY.
By: Elle Ambler
Check out Facial Profiling at C24 Gallery for all things portrait. On the upper story, rows of distorted White House staffers stare down the floor, flanked by shadowy portraits obscured by series of dots and circles. On another wall, pairs of photographs show the artist’s preconceptions of his online dates projected onto them, followed by a collaborative post-date portrait. Things take a more chimeric turn on the lower floor. Glitter-ink plays a large role in a scene of two hooded men carrying away a woman/bird/hog creature. Near, watercolor and crayon drawings distort and multiply bodies where torsos emerge from one another. All together, the show asks questions of how we interpret portraiture and how we view persona and identity.
