GALERIE PARIS – BEJING, Elisa Azzena de Fleurieu

So what are your thoughts about the organization/ the fair/ the crowd and the art works?
So far, we are really happy to be here, people seem to be very interested. We’ve also met with many collectors and although it’s our first time at CI, we’ve already experienced great hospitality and dynamism of Turkish people around us.
Do you generally follow the Turkish Contemporary Art?
We started to follow Turkish contemporary art 3 years ago. We’re thinking about representing Turkish artists in our gallery in Paris so it’s a great opportunity to be here meeting with so many Turkish artists and with their eclectic exhibitions.
Do you think Istanbul is gaining more significance in the International art scene?
Yes indeed. We were very happy to know that also Bienal has extended. You have major collectors, lots of founders are coming so this project’s target is being realized by gathering together the gallery owners and the collectors from all around, adding here also the existing collectors in Turkey. Turkey’s role in art is developing day by day and everyone wants to be here. So I can tell, Istanbul is a really good place to be for art and exhibiting art.

So what are your thoughts about the organization/ the fair/ the crowd and the art works?
We’ve been participating CI for a long time and we have really good feedbacks which make us even more thrilled to be a part of it. Contemporary Istanbul gets so many attractions. Its one of the best organized art exhibitions which also refers to a meeting point and a successful host in favor of Istanbul. That’s why we’re extremely happy to be here. Our gallery is in New York and we have only one Turkish artist as we aim to represent more global art than local. The crowd is satisfying as its just opened today for VIP contributors.
Do you generally follow the Turkish Contemporary Art?
Yes, in addition to following Turkish contemporary art, we have included a new name, Carole Feuerman, and we’re representing her both in the States and in Turkey. Talking of her, we are planning to represent her solo in Miami’s art exhibition and we’re really looking forward to it as she is absolutely ambitious and successful with her hyperrealist art.
Do you think Istanbul is gaining more significance in the International art scene?
Oh sure, when we compare today and the past years, I can say that the fairs target has been accomplished: trade and the art. CI exhibits eligible works of art in good quality within high sales figures. I think its a globally well-achieved organization which ensures collaboration with international institutions.

So what are your thoughts about the organization/ the fair/ the crowd and the art works?
I think it’s a very good fair with good people. The crowd is amazing and the organization is impressing. We’ve already started selling pieces at 1 p.m when the fair just opened its doors. I must say the selections are perfect.

So what are your thoughts about the organization/ the fair/ the crowd and the art works?
The crowd is good and eventually seems to be getting more on the hour. The organization is great and I see here clearly Istanbul’s advantage of being the crossroads of two different sides, Asia and Europe and how this mixture contributes to its artists and their artworks.
Do you generally follow the Turkish Contemporary Art?
This is my first time in CI but I’ve been following Turkish artists for the past couple of years.

So what are your thoughts about the organization/ the fair/ the crowd and the art works?
The fair has been great, they are extremely organized. We’ve participated several art shows before but this time we came here and the walls were up, our artworks were ready, the lights were all arranged. It was a real surprise. You can tell they’ve been doing it for 10 years. The exhibition’s director was really lovely and everybody was hospitable as we feel like home. Even if I hadn’t so much opportunity to walk around, as far I saw, there are mesmerizing artworks, they are all unique in their own way.
Do you generally follow the Turkish Contemporary Art?
This is first time we’re here but I’ve been following enthusiastically the progress of the art in Istanbul. We didn’t have Turkish collectors until few years ago but now we have more than we expected.
Do you think Istanbul is gaining more significance in the International art scene?
Istanbul is considerably active in the art scene and hosting two art fairs each year within several good curated shows and important exhibitions, all this have depend the roots of art and it widens the possibility of getting much more attractive.
